A yearlong participatory research programme to find the root cause of hiatus between indigenous and non-indigenous communities of Assam with the support from Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India. The documentation project was undertaken in the wake of anti-Bihari violence in Assam in 2004, with support from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
As our follow-up work of Setubandha 2015 we had planned a visit to the North Bengal State Library at Cooch Behar to find out about manuscripts from Assam which were lying there. The initial visit was made by Shri Dipankar Mahanta along with the Circle Officer from Agomoni Circle of Dhubri district Sjt Palash Pratim Bora during July 2015. After this preliminary visit the Foundation instituted a team under Dr Biman Hazarika from Dhing College, an expert on the subject to go and give a firsthand report on the status of such manuscripts.
Interactive Sessions titled 'Abolokon – Quest for Light' was organised on 30 Aug. 2015. The topic for discussion was on 'Dynamics of the rebel bases in Myanmar – Analysis of Indo-China Interests' held in the Conference Hall of NIPCCD, Khanapara, Guwahati.
The Foundation instituted a study on 'Crime against Property - decoding the role of psycho-social factors,' conducted by the Centre for Development and Peace Studies in 2016.
The Setubandha book titled 'Anunad : Srimanta Sankar Aru Asamiya Sanskriti', a collection of essays on Srimanta Sankaradeva and Assamese culture, which was compiled by Shri Ranjit Kumar Dev Goswami and released by Shri H K Deka, noted litterateur and former DGP, Assam Police.
The Setubandha 2013 book titled 'Setubandha Kari Nare', a collection of articles on Sattras and the harmonious relationships in the society. This book was edited by Dr Pradipjyoti Mahanta and Dr Madhab Borah and the same was released by Dr Anjan Ojha, Principal of Chaiduwar College.
An important document which evolved out of this process and programme this time was Xukladhwaj, Axomia Xatta, Xamannoy aru Kamata Aityajya, the Setubandha book conceived and crafted by Srimanta Foundation and edited by Sjt Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta. This book is of 364 pages being divided into 3 broad sections viz., (i) Jakeri Nahike Upam (ii) Kamatapur Goirabh Gatha and (iii) Setubandha bibidha. Contributions by the authors are in Assamese, Rajbonshi and Bengali language. This book was released by Sjt Durlav Chumua, President, Koch Rajbongshi Sanmiloni and the then MLA, Nagaon Sadar. The book release function was conducted by Dr Nirupama Mahanta.
In 2019, the Foundation conducted a detailed survey on the Sattriya skills and livelihood avenues of the Udasin Bhakats (Celibate monks) of Assam. The report was based on responses and interviews from 476 Udasin Bhakats, a group considered an important asset of the state's cultural heritage and humanity.
